Welcome to the Utah EnvirothonFAQs:
Who can participate?
Students
in grades 9-12 can participate. Teams consist of five team members and one alternate
member. Teams from a junior high school with students in 7th or 8th grade may compete at the Utah Envirothon and will be eligible for all local awards. Should such a team place first, they will not be eligible to advance to the Canon Envirothon. In this case, the next eligible team (with students in 9th - 12th grades only) will be invited to travel and participate in the Canon event. Each team must contact their local soil conservation district and inform them of their intent to participate.
Who
trains the teams? Each team is advised by an adult advisor. Advisors
can be teachers, Scout leaders, 4-H leaders, retired natural resource professionals
or anyone with an interest and the knowledge to help their team members learn
about natural resources. How much does it cost?
A registration fee of $75 per team is required. Sponsoring soil conservation districts
may pay the team's registration fee. A listing of Utah's
soil conservation districts is available on this web site or in the Advisor's
Handbook. What does the registration fee pay for?
The Utah Envirothon provides
Friday night dinner, Saturday lunch and a Utah Envirothon T-shirt to participating
team members and advisors. Where
do I register?
A registration
form is available on this web site or in the Utah
Envirothon Advisor's Handbook. Registration is due March 28, 2008.
