2008 Utah Envirothon
 

The eleventh annual Utah Envirothon was held Moab, UT at The Moab Arts and Recreation Center and the BLM Gold Bar Recreation Site.  The event took place on April 25th and 26th, with teams coming together to compete in the oral presentation event and to participate in the field station training and testing over these two days.


The current issue was Recreational Impacts on Natural Resources.

Winning Team: The Blacksmith Fork 4-H team from Hyrum, UT, sponsored by the Blacksmith Fork Conservation District.
Advisor:  Ron Hellstern


Our winning team represented Utah at the 2008 Canon Envirothon hosted at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona July 28th through August 3th, 2008. The team came in 37th out of 54 teams. They placed in the top 25 for the four regular study areas: Aquatic Ecology, Forestry, Soils/Land Use and Wildlife.

Team members were: Kory Brown, Ethan Searle, Brayden Mickelson, Ben Riffe, and Houston Black,  with advisor Ron Hellstern.

Winning FFA Team: Hurricane High School FFA sponsored by the Dixie Conservation District.
Advisor: Dustin Dayley


Our winning team represented Utah at the national FFA Competition in Indianapolis, IN in October in the Environmental & Natural Resources Career Development Event.
